Welcome to Double D
Ranch located in Sunny Central Florida. We are the
proud family of three of North America’s Berger de
Picards;
Valmy de la
Valle du Mouton, Victor Of Silver Glen and
Ardoise Du Manoir De Bertinghen, better
know to us as Valle, Vic, and DC.
My love for the
Picard began in the summer of 2000. While in
London on work, I had the chance encounter with
Busch, a very large beautiful fawn Berger de
Picard. When I returned to the States, I began my
search.
Reading everything
I could on the Picard, I decided this was the dog
for me. While researching the breed I found that I
would have to travel to Europe for my puppy
because at the time there were no breeders in the
US and only 11 Picards in North America. In
February of 2000, I would travel to Austria to
pick up
Valle, a
fawn female, from
Christian and Moinka Janes and she would
become the 12th Picard in North America.
As my love for the
breed grew, so did my want to share them with the
rest of North America. So, my hunt for a male was
on. In December of 2003, the first litter of
Picard pups was born in the States to the
Silver Glen Ranch.
Finally in February of 2004,
Vic, a fawn male,
became part of our family. This, I thought,
completed our Picard family.
However, I still
longed for a dark brindle Picard. So in August of
2005 we returned to Austria and Christian and
Moinka, who had just returned from France. They
introduced us to DC, a dark brindle female, which
became the third member of our Picard family.
Although this is
truly a fabulous breed of dog, it is not the right
breed for everyone. We hope that the information
contained in this website and the links to other
sites contained herein will provide you with the
information you need to determine if this is the
right breed of dog for your family.
